The open moorland and the majestic Haytor Rocks (one of the many local granite tors) are within five minutes walking distance of the flat and Dartmoor is perfect for walkers of all levels from people who enjoy an amble, to those who wish to venture further affield for longer harder walks. A new visitor centre is located near to Haytor Rocks with local maps, souvenirs, local walk information etc and is well worth a visit.

'The Rock Inn' - a locally well recommended pub and restaurant is 50 yards stroll away from the property and there are also many more pubs and shops within a 3 mile radius, including the Carpenters Arms and the Blue Tiger Inn in Ilsington, approx. 1.5 miles away .  Widecome-in-the-moor (home to the famous 'Uncle Tom Cobbly' tale and fair) is also three miles away and it has good pubs, shops and visitor centres to explore. 

The nearest supermarkets, green grocers, delis, bakers and lots more are situated in Bovey Tracey 3 miles away.  Local visitor attractions include: the Miniature Pony Centre, Becky Falls, Trago Mills shopping and activity centre, River Dart Country Park, Woodlands Adventure park, Crealy Adventure Park, 9 Hole golf course in Bovey Tracey, all of which are easily accessible from the Garden Flat on Haytor.

Torquay, Teignmouth and Paignton beaches are within a 25 - 35 minute drive away.
